Dao Do

Senior adviser

Dao was born in Nha Trang, Vietnam and moved to Saigon with her family since 1960. Now she is living in Saigon with her small family.

She teaches Vietnamese language for foreigners and doctor Donn Colby (Tam Nguyen’s friend) told her about VNSF . Right after that she met Tam Nguyen and decided to become a volunteer in Vietnam in 2002.

Knowing that education is very important, especially with underprivileged children, she thinks VNSF is a very good organization for her to work with.

Year after year, she continues her work with joy and hope that VNSF will help more and more student in Vietnam.

In 2106, 2017 & 2019, she organized 11 interview trips for volunteers to meet over 300 unprivileged students in 6 locations: An Giang, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Dong Thap, Tien Giang, Ho Chi Minh City. Two library rooms were established and provided new books, new shelves and new materials in October 2017.

To have full of energy to work for her life and VNSF’s program, she practiced and completed her first full marathon at Khmer Empire Marathon 2019 on 03 Aug 2019.

Her achievement for VNSF program counts by the increase in the number of students receiving VNSF scholarships and the number of dropping out students decreased to zero.

Paul Tamura

My grandfather immigrated from Japan in the early 1900s with little more than the clothes on his back and little education. He found odd jobs and eventually went into farming. He knew the importance of education, so all of his children went to college and had solid careers. I am the beneficiary of his belief. I want every child to have that benefit.

I joined the Board in 2002 and stayed for 10 years in various roles. Since then I have been volunteering on the Program Committee, helping to plan and oversee VNSF’s programs. It has been the most fulfilling job of my life.
